Procedures for transporting pets to Taichung city
Transport by airplane:
- Using air routes to transport dogs, cats, and other pets from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to Taichung International Airport.
- Customers should notify the breed of dog or cat they want to transport to see if it is on the restricted list.
- Pets must be in good health, free from illness, and fully vaccinated before transport.
- The transport crate must be suitable in size for the pet, sturdy, free of sharp edges, and have a waterproof bottom.
Documents and requirements:
- A recent vaccination certificate and health certificate are required for pets.
- To transport pets internationally, a rabies antibody titer test certificate for dogs and cats is required and an import license (if any).
- Make sure your pet has adequate supplies and food throughout the flight and must undergo quarantine upon arrival in the destination country.
Special restrictions
Dog breeds are limited– The following fighting dog breeds or similar hybrid breeds are not allowed to be transported:
- Pit Bull Terrier (including American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier)
- American bully
- Brazilian Mastiff (Fila Brasileiro)
- Tosa Japan
- Argentinian Mastiff (Dogo Argentino)
- Mastiff breeds (Neapolitan Mastiff, Tibetan Mastiff, Bull Mastiff, Italian Mastiff, French Mastiff)
The following breeds of dogs, short-nosed cats or mixed breeds of short-nosed dogs are only allowed to be transported if the total journey time does not exceed 6 hours (including flight time and ground time at transfer points) and temperature does not exceed 21 °C (70 °F) at any point of the journey:
Snub-nosed dog:
– Affenpinscher
– Local troops
– Boxer
– Brussels Griffon
– Bulldog (all types)
– Chinese Pug Dog
– Dutch Pug Dog
– English Bulldog
Snub-nosed cat:
– That’s your hair, brother.
– Burma
– Strangely short fur
– Himalayas
– Persian
– Scottish fold cat
- Transit time (total transit time, including time on the ground during transit) must not exceed 6 hours.
- Transit stops of no more than 6 hours are subject to standard transit temperature restrictions at facilities permitted to accept dogs and short-nosed cats as checked baggage. Other facilities are not allowed to transport pets as checked baggage.
Short-nosed dogs and cats are allowed to be transported in the following areas and months:
- Authorized regions: Taiwan, Northeast Asia, China/Hong Kong; Not allowed in other areas.
- Allowed months: January, February, March and December.

Short-nosed dogs and cats are very sensitive to environmental temperature. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures and pressures can lead to life-threatening risks such as heat stroke and difficulty breathing. Kennels for short-nosed dogs and cats must meet the following requirements:
- The cover must be larger than the standard size. All four sides of the pet cage must have ventilation.
- You should start crate training your pet a few days before your trip to help them get used to it.
Do not put food in containers during transportation. Water is allowed in containers.
