General regulations on transporting pets
- To give airport staff time to make arrangements, please arrive at the airport 2 hours before departure with your pet and check in.
- Do not transport newborn dogs and cats (under 10 weeks old)
- Pets with unpleasant odors are not accepted as checked baggage or carry-on baggage in the passenger cabin.
- Limited acceptance of pregnant pets and postpartum pets. Pets are pregnant for less than 40 days. And pets are only allowed to fly more than 7 days after birth.
Regulations on cages for transporting pets on airplanes
- Pet cages must be made of hard plastic according to IATA regulations. There is only one door for pets to enter and exit and can prevent pets from escaping or sticking their claws out.
- The pet carrier must allow the pet to stand, lie down and turn around comfortably. Pets must be kept upright without touching the top of the cage.
- The coop must have ventilation holes on three sides
- The bottom of the cage must have an absorbent lining.
- The four sides of the pet cage must be tied tightly with drawstrings.
- Labeled as a live animal
- Pet cages must have trays and bowls for food and water.
- You can use tape to secure the pet cage.
- Requirements for pet cage size.
- Because pets as checked baggage will be kept in the cargo hold on the plane. That is why you should ensure the size of the cage. Measurements of both the height and width of the pet cage will be within the following limits:
- Maximum outside height of pet cage: 70cm
- Maximum outside width of pet cage: 90cm.
Pets are subject to special restrictions
Dog breeds and fighting dog breeds that are restricted from being transported (including mixed breeds and aggressive secondary hybrid breeds) are not allowed to be transported.
Carriage restrictions on short-nosed dogs and cats (including cross breeds, secondary cross breeds, and all snub-nosed dogs and snub-nosed cats).
Short-nosed dogs and cats’ bodies cannot adapt to temperatures higher than 21 degrees Celsius and can easily suffocate, which can cause death. Short-nosed dogs and cats transported as checked baggage must meet the following conditions:
- Transit time (total transit time, including time on the ground during transit) must not exceed 6h.
- Stops should not exceed 6 hours during transit. Comply with standard shipping temperature restrictions. Are facilities allowed to accept short-nosed dogs and cats as checked baggage?
Short-nosed dogs and cats are allowed to be transported in the following regions: Taiwan, Northeast Asia, China. Allowed months: January, February, March and December.
